14 ways to meet new people in Hong Kong
New in town or simply want to make more friends? Don’t be scared, Hong Kong is one of the easiest places in the world to meet people as newcomers are arriving every single day. In this post we’ll share some of the easiest ways to meet people and have an awesome time!
One of the best ways to meet people is through Meetup, a platform with many activities organized by the community. It’s a great website, because it hosts the biggest variety of events, meaning you can find an activity you’ll like and can meet people from all types of backgrounds, cultures and age, depending on what you’re looking for.
Internations is a good way to get to know mostly expats in the city. Every month they host an official event, which is usually drinks in a bar and there are some smaller events hosted by their members throughout the month.
You may know Couchsurfing as a platform to host travelers or find a place to stay when you’re traveling, but they also host weekly events where you get to meet backpackers and locals alike. They always make sure to get good deals, so you won’t need to spend much and will get to meet lots of cool people who love traveling.
4. Chamber of Commerce
Missing home? Depending on what country you’re from, it probably shouldn’t be too difficult to meet some of your fellow countrymen in Hong Kong. Check out the chamber of commerce and see what events are coming up. There are also InterCham – mostly some European Chambers of commerce – events for Young Professionals hosted around once in 2 months.
5. Sports teams

GSN hosts monthly networking events for young professionals in hip bars & clubs on the island side. It’s a good mix of locals and expats and usually they’ll also arrange some deals on the drinks :).

Besides social events, there are also many professional networking events like anywhere else in the world. If you’re interested in startups, there are a plenty of events, workshops and talks around town. 12. Join a class
Meet like-minded people and develop new skills. What’s not to like? What about a yoga class, Chinese class or cooking class? Whatever you want to do, you’ll find it in Hong Kong.
